Your privacy is important.

We take privacy seriously.  We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information.

Who are you giving your information to?

Your personal information is being, or has been, collected by Cancer Council Queensland (ACN 009 784 356) (“Cancer Council”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

Where do we get your information from?

As much as possible, we will collect your information directly from you.  We also obtain personal information from other people and organisations.  If we collect your information from someone else and it is unclear that you have consented to the disclosure of your personal information to us, we will try to let you know that we have received your information and how.

Why are we collecting your information?

We are collecting your personal information to facilitate services or products requested by you and/or to keep you informed about Cancer Council related activities.  We may also send you information about programs, products, services, fundraising or other activities which we think may interest you.

What happens if we do not receive your information?

If you choose not to give us the personal information we request from you, we may not be able to provide you with some services or products or keep you informed about Cancer Council related activities.

Who do we share your information with?

We may share your personal information with Cancer Council Australia or Cancer Councils in other States of Territories, other people and organisations so that they can provide Cancer Council with services or collaborate with us, or when we are required to do so by law. If the service or product you receive from us is funded wholly or in part by Queensland Health, we may share your personal information with Queensland Health so that they can ensure that we are delivering quality services.  If we share your personal information with others, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that they deal with personal information appropriately.

Will my information be disclosed overseas?

Sometimes, we will disclose your personal information to other people and organisations who are not in Australia. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients do not breach the Australian Privacy Principles.  By providing your personal information, you consent to this disclosure and acknowledge that if these overseas recipients handle your personal information in a way that breaches the Australian Privacy Principles, neither they nor we will be accountable under the Privacy Act. This means you will not be able seek redress under the Privacy Act.  Please refer to the section of our Privacy Policy on our website that deals with offshore disclosures for further details.

If you do not agree to the disclosure of your personal information overseas, please contact our Data Services department using the contact details set out below.  Please note that we may not be able to provide some services and/or products to you if you choose not to have your personal information disclosed to overseas recipients.
