The Community Speaker’s Program is an adult education program which delivers free presentations on the prevention and early detection of cancer to organisations and community groups.
The interesting and informative presentations provide important prevention and early detection messages which encourage Queenslanders to be aware of the simple measures they can take to protect themselves from cancer and maintain their health.
The Community Speakers Program offers eight presentation topics:
- Skin Cancer;
- Breast Cancer;
- Cervical Cancer;
- Prostate Cancer;
- Bowel Cancer;
- Men under 40 and Cancer Prevention
- Nutrition, Alcohol and Cancer Prevention; and
- Physical Activity, Body Weight and Cancer Prevention.

Please note not all topics will be available in your region.
Each presentation runs for about 30 minutes and provides up-to-date and relevant information. A range of resources are also distributed during the presentations. Each presentation can be tailored to meet the needs of your group.
The Cancer Council Queensland volunteers deliver these presentations. Our volunteers have been trained to provide this important community service. Our volunteers should not be considered experts on the topics and specific questions can be directed to The Cancer Council Helpline 13 11 20, toll free.
