2010 Gold Coast Airport Marathon
Cancer Council Queensland is proud to be the official charity of the 2010 Gold Coast Airport Marathon, to be held over July 3 and 4, 2010.
The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is renowned worldwide for its fast, flat and scenic course, which takes in the Gold Coast’s beautiful surf beaches and broadwater. The first Gold Coast Marathon was held in 1979, with 691 runners.
In 2010, the Gold Coast Airport Marathon hopes to attract over 25,000 participants for all the events including the Gold Coast Airport Marathon (over 42km), the ASICS Half Marathon, the Southern Cross University 10km Run, the Gold Coast Bulletin 5km Challenge and the Queensland Health Junior Dash (4km and 2km).
As the official charity for the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, we are heavily involved in supporting the event.
Over 40 Cancer Council Queensland volunteers work in the left luggage area of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon. This is an area where participants can safely leave their bags during the race and collect them afterwards.
We are proud of the number of our staff who participate in the Gold Coast Airport Marathon each year, leading by example Cancer Council’s healthy lifestyle and cancer prevention messages.
Cancer affects everyone, and those 654,977 Australians diagnosed with cancer could liken their journey from diagnosis and treatment to that of a marathon.
By participating in the Gold Coast Airport Marathon you can make a difference!
Cancer Council Queensland receives no government funding. By adding a fundraising focus to your training regime, and fundraising for a women's or men's cancer, your support really will make a difference to the lives of Queenslanders affected by cancer.
