Background: Associate Professor Anna Hawkes has worked in translational behavioural research for over ten years. She has been researching and working in chronic disease prevention and management for non-government, government and academic organisations. She completed a science degree (First Class Honours) at The University of Melbourne, followed by a Masters of Public Health degree and PhD at James Cook University in North Queensland where she developed her interest in the delivery of health care for rural and disadvantaged populations. She holds adjunct appointments as an Associate Professor at James Cook University and Queensland University of Technology. Anna currently leads VCRCC's Lifestyle and Cancer Research Program and collaborates on a number of research projects within the Cancer Council and with external inter/national research institutions.
Research interests: Anna has an interest in developing and trialling innovative models of service delivery, including tele-based and web-based delivery, to improve the management of chronic disease (such as cancer and cardiovascular disease) for groups disadvantaged by geographical isolation.
