The program delivers free presentations, displays and resources about the prevention and early detection of cancer to workplaces, community groups and organisations.Community Speakers Program
Our Community Speakers Program is an education program delivering free presentations to organisations, workplaces and community groups about cancer-related topics. The five topics provide cancer smart messages that aim to raise awareness of cancer risk factors and the importance of the early detection of cancer. Our trained speakers are available to visit your club, community group or organisation to speak about the following topics:
- Reducing your risk of skin cancer.
- Reducing your risk of bowel cancer.
- Reducing cancer risk for women (breast, cervical, ovarian and lifestyle).
- Reducing cancer risk for men (prostate, testicular and lifestyle).
- Cancer smart lifestyle (physical activity, nutrition, alcohol and body weight).
Our presentations focus on the benefits of lifestyle change and provide practical information on how to implement these new changes into everyday life. Attendees will also be provided with materials to take home.
Presentations can be conducted at your workplace or community centre and run for 30 minutes. The program and topic can be adapted to meet the individual needs of your organisation and audience. Generally, a minimum group number of 10 people is required. If you have a smaller group, please contact the Cancer Council Helpline on 13 11 20 to discuss possible solutions.
