Congratulations Australia Day Awards recipients
Cancer Council Queensland is today congratulating the many dedicated volunteers who received Australia Day Awards yesterday.
Many Cancer Council Queensland volunteers have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to their communities and to a cancer-free future.
Cancer Council Queensland congratulates:
- The Biloela Relay For Life - awarded Community Event of the Year for the Banana Shire Council
- The Cassowary Coast Relay For Life - awarded Community Event of the Year for the Cassowary Coast Regional Council
- Cale Hutchins - awarded Mackay Young Citizen on the Year, Chair of the Pioneer Valley Relay For Life
- Margaret Whackett - awarded Citizen of the Year for the Western Downs, Dalby volunteer branch member
- Merle Cole - awarded Rockhampton Citizen of the Year, Chair of the 2011 Rockhampton Relay For Life
- Judy Walters and the Karumba Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, awarded Community Event of the Year for the Carpentaria Shire Council
Marie Yamamoto, Volunteer Services Advisor at at Cancer Council Queensland, said the awards were well-deserved.
“At Cancer Council Queensland all of our volunteers do an amazing job - year in, year out - and we are proud to see their efforts recognised this way,” she said.
“These volunteers are a great example of what everyday Queenslanders can do when they are passionate about a cause as great at Cancer Councils, they can and do
make a difference.”
