Our Brain Tumour Support Service provides information, referral and support to people who have a benign or malignant brain tumour, their families and friends.
The service provides:
- Information about brain tumours and treatments.
- Referral to support and rehabilitation services as well as practical and financial assistance.
- Regular meetings that provide opportunities to meet other people dealing with a brain tumour and hear health professionals discuss topics of interest.
- Quarterly newsletters.
Brain Tumour Information Sessions
Free Information Sessions are held throughout the year in Brisbane and Townsville, with presentations by health professionals with expertise in the area of brain tumours.

This is a collaborative project being conducted by Griffith University, Cancer Council Queensland and Briz Brain & Spine. The project is investigating ways to improve psychological support for people with a brain tumour and will offer participants education and support in their own home.

- Adult gliomas: a guide for patients, their families and carers - guide
Cancer Council Australia has published a new guide for patients, their families and carers on the most common type of brain cancer, adult gliomas. Adult gliomas: a guide for patients, their families and carers provides information on a range of topics including causes of brain cancer, screening, managing symptoms, navigating the health system and practical advice in areas like rehabilitation and driving. It also outlines psychological and social support, how to participate in clinical trials and palliative care options. The guide was developed by an expert group, led by Michael Barton OAM, Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of New South Wales. The guide is free and can be viewed or downloaded online or a printed copy obtained from the Cancer Council Helpline. - Better Days Ahead by Gavin Grant – book
This is Gavin's perspective of being diagnosed with a malignant low grade astrocytoma and undergoing treatment in 1993 at the age of 20. Gavin has contributed to our newsletter over the years and is a Cancer Connect volunteer.
