Cancer Care Education Programs

Cancer Council Queensland provides a range of three to five day scholarship courses in cancer care. The Cancer Care Education Programs are offered to Enrolled Nurses, Unregulated Health Workers and Registered Nurses.

The courses are designed to provide an opportunity for education and skills training:
  • To increase cancer-related knowledge of nurses by providing information about cancer, prevention and early detection of cancer, treatment modalities, palliative care and psychosocial issues.
  • To improve supportive care for people with cancer.
  • To develop a state-wide network among nurses and health professionals in cancer control.

Mode of presentation

Curriculum for the courses includes clinical visits, lectures and interactive workshops from presenters with experience and qualifications in a range of specialty areas.

Participants

A minimum of 16 applicants are chosen for each program from across the state. Selection is by written application which is reviewed by a panel of health professionals.

Successful applicants are awarded travel, daily accommodation & meal allowance and study materials.
