The Allied Health Professionals Oncology Group (AHPOG) is a group for all health professionals working in cancer care and public health.
AHPOG is a special-interest group which operates throughout Queensland and aims to support allied health professionals by providing opportunities for Scholarahips and Travel Grants.
Membership
Membership is open to all allied health professionals and public health professionals with an interest in cancer care. Medical and nursing practitioners are not eligible for membership.

2011 Conference Report
On Thursday and Friday April 7th and 8th 2011, Cancer Council Queensland's Oncology Nurses Group and the Allied Health Professionals Oncology Group came together to present a conference for 250 health professionals caring for people cancer.
45 speakers presented 37 papers on the theme "Supported, interconnected and enlightened cancer care". The keynote address, "Cancer, Crisis, Chaos – the psychosocial implications of cancer on the family" was presented by well know allied health professional Liz Crowe. Liz is a very experienced social worker who has specialised in grief, loss, bereavement and trauma.
The conference concurrent sessions, and planned plenaries and workshops deliver information about current clinical issues and research, innovative therapeutic approaches and the impact of cancer not only on the patient but also on their loved ones and all those who care for them throughout their disease trajectory.
Presentation highlights included, "The Journey of a Head and Neck Cancer Patient"; "Silent but deadly: Brain tumours in focus"; "Cancer and Lifestyle" and "Palliative Care in Acute Haematology and Transplant Settings".

Health Professional Study and Travel Grants
Cancer Council Queensland's program of scholarships and study grants provides health workers in the field of cancer the opportunity to improve knowledge pertaining to research, diagnosis, treatment and education about cancer. The experience gained will make it possible to give the highest standard of health care to people with cancer.
Each year, $70,000 in scholarships is offered, with each scholarship valued at a maximum of $10,000. There are scholarships for international travel and travel within Australia, and scholarships for nurses, medical, paramedical, educationalists and allied health professionals. Community Grants Program
The Cancer Council Queensland Community Grants Program enables eligible organisations to apply for funding of up to $15,000 for cancer-related initiatives, which will enhance the provision of cancer care through increasing comfort, enhancing privacy and dignity and providing support and information.
