Health Professional Groups

The Allied Health Professionals Oncology Group (AHPOG) is a group for all Allied Health Professionals working in cancer care and public health.
Education Programs
Cancer Care Education Programs have now been launched for 2010. For more information and to download an application form click here.Indigenous Health Workers Cancer Courses are offered each year to provide information for indigenous health workers about cancer, cancer prevention and early detection and palliative care.
Unregulated Health Worker Courses are offered to assistants-in-nursing, personal care assistants and home care workers. The courses provide an introduction to cancer care.
The Alf Kretschmar Award aims to involve enrolled nurses, undergraduates in nursing and assistants-in-nursing in Queensland in our promotion of community attitudes about, and opinions toward cancer. Entrants submit a written contribution on the topic “Caring for the Person with Cancer – A Positive Nursing Experience”. Alf Kretschmar Competition for 2010 has now launched. Health Professional Education Forums provide a range of cancer related lectures and workshops. Recent forum topics have included, “Supporting Patients through Smoking Cessation”; “Promoting Wellness for People with Cancer”; “Cancer Care for the Elderly” and “Managing Oncological Emergencies”.
The Teachers Seminar is an annual event which provides information for teachers about children and adolescents whose lives have been affected by cancer.
Orientation to Cancer Council Queensland Programs are three hour sessions providing health professionals with an introduction to the programs and services of Cancer Council Queensland
