Cancer Council Queensland provides a range of courses in cancer care.

The courses are designed to provide an opportunity for education and skills training:

• To increase cancer-related knowledge of health professionals by providing information about cancer, prevention and early detection of cancer, treatment modalities, palliative care and psychosocial issues.
• To improve supportive care for people with cancer.
• To develop a state-wide network among health professionals in cancer control.

2011 - 2012 Program

Introduction to Cancer Care One Day Workshops

Cancer Council Queensland will conduct a series of free one day workshops during 2011 and 2012.

Who should attend the workshops?

The one day workshops are suitable for health professionals caring for people with cancer who are not specialists in the field. This includes nurses, allied health professionals and health workers in public and private settings, including those who work in hospitals, aged care settings, community, general practice and domiciliary services.

Workshop content will be at an introductory level. Content will include:

• What is cancer?
• Cancer treatments
• Psychosocial impact and support
• Cancer Council Queensland services and supports
