We advocate for legislation, policy and funding to improve cancer control.
Importantly, our advocacy achievements have improved outcomes for cancer patients and the community, enhancing awareness of our services and helping to advance cancer control.
Advocacy priorities
Our four active advocacy priorities are:
1. Implementation of the Queensland Statewide Cancer Treatment Services Plan 2010-17
To advocate for adequate State Government funding and resources to implement the recommendations of the Queensland Statewide Cancer Treatment Services Plan, including investment in radiotherapy treatment facilities and improved co-coordinated care and psychosocial support for cancer patients.
2. Increased services and support for regional Queenslanders affected by cancer
To advocate for increased State Government funding to close the gap in cancer survival rates for regional Queenslanders, primarily through investment in research and increased funding for travel assistance.
3. Funding for the ongoing operation and development of the Queensland Cancer Registry
To advocate for State Government funding and resource support for the ongoing operation and development of the Queensland Cancer Registry.
4. Prioritisation of preventative policies and funding
To ensure Federal and State Government prioritisation of preventative health action and related investments, such as tobacco control, regulation of junk food advertising, and a ban on solariums, to lower risks of cancer incidence.
