| The Gluyas Rotary Lodge provides accommodation for patients from outside Townsville undergoing outpatient cancer treatment in Townsville. The accommodation is available to patients not requiring nursing care or assistance. A carer must be present throughout their stay to provide emotional comfort and assist with needs such as cooking and cleaning. |

| Facilities |
Each unit contains:
- Full kitchen and laundry facilities
- En suite
- All linen requirements
- Telephone to receive incoming calls. Local telephone calls can be made from the unit free of charge. A pay phone is available for STD calls.

| Fees |
| Accommodation fees are calculated on a per day, per unit basis, and are within the daily allowance of the State Government Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme (PTSS) or similar scheme. Special consideration is given to patients and families in
special circumstances or to those who do not qualify for the PTSS benefit. |

| Transport |
| The Townsville Hospital is a 15 minute drive from the Lodge. A courtesy bus runs between the Lodge and the Townsville Hospital five times a day. A public bus route passes the Lodge and transport volunteers can also assist. 48 hours notice is required for transport assistance. |

| Bookings |
Doctors, social workers, welfare officers, patients and family members may direct enquiries regarding accommodation to the Gluyas Rotary Lodge.

| Recreation areas |
A recreational area, complete with barbecue facilities, pool table, books, magazines and children’s toys are available for use by residents. A Lodge barbecue is held each fortnight.
The Lodge is situated close to the beach. A general store is located across the road from the Lodge. Supermarkets, a hairdressing salon and a variety of takeaway food outlets are within walking distance. |

| Parking |
| Undercover parking is provided on the premises. |
| |
| Volunteers |
| The Cancer Council Queensland volunteers are happy to arrange shopping excursions and support visits. |
| |
| Cancer information |
| A variety of programs including 'Living with cancer' information sessions are available to help patients through their diagnosis and treatment, and to help their companion understand the needs of a person receiving treatment. |
| |
| Staff help |
| The Cancer Support Co-ordinator or Lodge Supervisor are available during the week to discuss any problems. |
| |
