A diagnosis of cancer can present many challenges, and some of these are very practical issues such as transport to the nearest treatment centre, accommodation away from home, financial difficulties due to loss of income, or the need for a wig, breast prosthesis or practical home aides. Transport
|
The Cancer Council Queensland offers transport to patients needing to travel from the Gold Coast to Brisbane for cancer treatment. Also, volunteer transport is available to collect patients and their companions from both the Brisbane airport and transit centre. |
Financial assistance

Assistance may be available to support people affected by cancer who are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of their cancer.

| Wig and Turban Service |
The Cancer Council Queensland provides a Wig and Turban Service for people who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment.
|
| Medical equipment loan service |
A range of home medical aid equipment is available for loan to people with a cancer diagnosis to assist with their care at home. Equipment available through the service includes wheelchairs, beds and shower stools. Availability of equipment varies.
