The Cancer Council Queensland - national winner for excellence in people management

On October 6, 2005 the Australian Human Resources Institute announced the winners of its annual Awards for Excellence in People Management. The Cancer Council Queensland was announced as the winner of the Small Enterprise Public Sector award.

Awards were made in six sections: Large, Medium and Small Enterprises in both the private and public sectors. In announcing the award to The Cancer Council Queensland, national judging panel member Professor Graham Hubbard said, “both the CEO and employees acknowledge the contribution of HR to the culture and performance of the organisation, and the Judges have also acknowledged that contribution in making this Award.”

The Cancer Council Queensland has a registered volunteer workforce of 2500 people, with thousands of additional volunteers who give their time to support our fundraising events. The main criteria for the AHRI Award for excellence in people management was the contribution made by Human Resources to the overall business success of The Cancer Council Queensland.
